mumms® Hospice Software has established its official and permanent presence in Puerto Rico. mumms® has a twenty-two year history as the leading hospice-specific software in the United States and in 2010 the mumms® company committed its resources to bring its experience and Hospice EMR software to Puerto Rico.

mumms® has been translated to Spanish, has two representatives that are citizens of Puerto Rico, and the mumms® office will open in San Juan. Our two representatives selected six hospice organizations to be the first Hospices in The Commonwealth to use this premier hospice EMR system. This group of six hospices, known as The Pilot Group, are installing, being trained, and implementing the mumms® EMR in two Phases.

The Pilot Group has begun Phase I. This phase was designed to focus on the business features of the system and to insure that the revenue functions and reporting of the system work precisely so that each Hospice can submit CMS claims on the first day of each month, receive CMS payments within 14 days, and have their CMS payments automatically posted into their Accounts Receivable. We know that nothing can move forward without a successful revenue process. Today, each hospice in the Pilot Group is transferring patient information into mumms® so that they can begin to submit Hospice Claims correctly to Medicare (CMS) by May 1, 2011. The Pilot Group is confirming that the program features are precise and then they will be able to report to all other hospices that mumms® operates just as well for Puerto Rico Hospices as it does for hospices in the United States. Pilot Group members will confirm that all program features and translations fit all Puerto Rico Hospice compliance requirements. This group will use the program for two billing cycles before a general release to other hospices.

The Pilot Group will begin Phase II in June. Phase II will implement and train the clinical features of the mumms® EMR for Physicians, Nurses, Nursing Assistants and any other hospice employee that enters information in to the patient’s Medical Record.

mumms® EMR Charter Group

While the Pilot Group was intentionally limited to six hospices. The mumms® Charter Group is next group of hospices in Puerto Rico to acquire this hospice system. mumms® will officially open membership requests to the Charter Group during the Puerto Rico Home Care and Hospice Association (AASSHH) annual conference on May 5 and May 6 at the new Puerto Rico’s Convention Center in San Juan. mumms® is a sponsor of that conference and invites your hospice to come there, meet our staff, learn more about mumms®, and reserve placement in the Charter Group membership.
