CMS Implements New Payment Structure for Hospice

On July 31, 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released the FY2016 Hospice Wage Index Final Rule. Two payment reform changes will be put into effect on January 1, 2016 by the rule, a two-tiered routine home care (RHC) rate and a service intensity add-on payment.

CMS Announces Hospice Participants in Medicare Care Choices Model

Last month CMS announced the list of hospices selected to participate in the Medicare Care Choices Model. More than 140 hospices will be participating in the model for a timeframe of five years. CMS expects that up to 150,000 eligible Medicare and dually eligible beneficiaries will be chosen to participate.
