(CMA) has announced that a nationwide class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries who are challenging "Medicare’s program failure to render decisions at the administrative law judge (ALJ) level within the 90 days required by law.”

Hospice Value Code 78 - Claims Being Incorrectly Returned

Palmetto GBA released an update on hospice claims that are being returned to providers in error with the reason code 36188. CMS has issued Change Request (CR) 9042 to correct the issue (scheduled to be released in July 2015). In the meantime, hospices can remove the Value Code 78 and amount from the claim and resubmit the claim through the DDE system.

CMS Announces Dark Days for FISS July 2-3

CMS has announced dark days for FISS and Common Working File Hosts on July 2 and 3. This means that a Notice of Election (NOE) will not process on these days. NHPCO has verified with CMS that all MACs will consider the dark days as a qualifying exception request for a late NOE submission.
