Congratulations to Lori McDermott at Hopsice Community Care who recieved the Carolinas Center Mary Doherty Scholarship for Excellence in Education for 2016. The scholarship provides registration, hotel accomodations and travel expenses for The Carolinas Center 2016 Annual Hospice & Palliative Care Conference.
In her nomination, Caroll Spires, Hospice Community Care COO, describes Lori as:
Strongly committed to her role as Billing Coordinator and to our organization, sharing extraordinary compassion and dedication to patients and families. […] While Lori’s role is related to billing and the financial aspects, she strives to learn more about hospice as a whole. The [past] conference certainly energized Lori as she returned to our agency sharing among her colleagues about all she had learned.”

As Director of Education, Mary worked tirelessly to plan and execute The Carolinas Center’s high respected educational programs. This scholarship is provided to an individual who works with hospice in a non-nursing capacity and demonstrates a passion for education, both for self and for others.
