Installing HBC
Install HBC on each device that staff will be using to access HBC. Don’t forget Administrative and Medical Records persons will need access to the program.
See “Hardware Specifications” below to ensure that each device meets minimal requirements.
Security
mumms recommends setting up all hardware with:
- Password protection according to HIPAA policies. This includes:
- For access to PC/laptop
- Access to email
- Do not save user/password on smart phones
- Anti-virus and anti-spyware protection
- Encryption. Free encryption software is available.
- Administrative Controls to prevent unauthorized downloading of software, music, etc. Users must have Full access to the directory (and subdirectories) where HBC is installed. The installation directory is either C:\Program Files\Mumms\HBC or \Applications\HBC.app.
- Consideration of security devices such as lo-jack
Settings
- Screen resolution MUST be set at 1024 X 768 or higher. (Higher literally means higher numbers)
- Clock on the monitor/laptop MUST be set to the correct time and time zone. mumms recommends using an Internet Time Server to automatically synchronize the clocks on all computers.
- Set Firefox to NOT update automatically.
Accessories
- Staff using a laptop may wish to use a mouse for ease and speed
- Projector will be needed for IDG/IDT and training
- Portable printers are a good solution for documents that must be printed out at time of visit (e.g. in nursing home)
